THE SELF-WINDING WHEEL
THE SERIES
The Self-Winding Wheel series developed from my moving meditation practice, reflecting on the relationship between physical health and our emotional stability and spiritual clarity.
THE INSPIRATION
I just knew I needed to do something, anything, to get off the hamster wheel. So I started writing letters to myself. They were angry at first, the world was the enemy. Then they become more meditative, liberating. I stopped writing and started painting. Get into the flow. But how? Isn’t it difficult, isn’t it a very long process. And will it ever end? Or are we going to search for balance forever? The world keeps distracting us, with apps, noises, voices, interruptions...
My body is changing, but isn’t my mind changing as well?
How does mental health affect the way we see ourselves in the mirror?
What does it mean to have spiritual clarity in your life?
We are emotionally stable, until we aren’t…
They say it’s just one small step after the other
Be open. Be present. Be grounded.
No more chains
You cannot take it away from me
Retune your brain. Heal your body
EXPRESSIVE PAINTINGS
The series is painted with energetic brush strokes, bold colours, textures, curvy lines, evocative drips, gestural mark-making, which give a contemporary expressive feel to the artworks.
Here you can download a PDF presentation of the series.
The series will be on show at the Art Maze Exhibition at Bargehouse - Oxo Tower Wharf from 26 – 30 October 2022. Details here.
